Outcomes related to ethics can be viewed in all aspects of the organization, from the perception of employees regarding fairness, to the engagement and retention and finally to the reputation and sustainability. Culture might not be the only determinant of organizational behavior, but it certainly has its influence. A company can amend and reinforce its ethical culture with symbols, stories, routines and rituals. The organizational culture explains both the ethical actions and the unethical behavior within an organization. Collection of like- minded employees strengthens the unitary culture within the organization and promotes their ethics even more. Leadership behaviors which support the ethical behaviors leads in formation of an ethically-oriented culture (LRN). The idea that is sent by the business leaders through the organizational culture helps in determination of the business ethics at the workplace- how ethics are defined, promoted, perceived, demonstrated and lived. On the basis of foundation of clear and solid corporate values for the ethical behavior, decision making can be done, fostering fairness, trust, compliance and transparency. Hum M3 Al - Essay Example Being related to consciousness and choice, they are acquired from the culture and environment. In contrast to animals, whose code of values are automatically formed and whose senses help them distinguish between good and evil, people have choice of knowledge and thus can acquire certain sets of values they choose. The code of values of the person forms his/her attitudes and affects thoughts. Thoughts and attitudes, as it is stated by Burns, forms emotions and feelings. 3. The Dominant Values test was rather puzzling for me, as I found most of the values important for me; none of them is opposite to my position in life. However, the test results indicate that Benevolence and Security are my dominant values, and Tradition has proved to be at the lowest stage in my life. I would say that results are true, because I care much about welfare and security of others. In Cognitive Empathy test, I’ve scored 25, which is the moderate ability of perspective talking. The score of Emotional Empathy is, however, higher, 27, and this is the high level of emotional empathy. I agree with the results, as I tend to feel compassionate for many people. Finally, Dispositional Mood Scale test has shown that the current tendencies in my mood are relatively high tiredness and negative arousal and moderate positive energy and

Interest rates & stocks Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Interest rates & stocks - Essay Example By using these values the current price of XYZ stock has been calculated and it is equal to $12.85. Po is the actual share price and P is the calculated stock price and when these two prices are compared, there is a huge difference between the two prices as the value of Po is equal to $76.28 and value of P is $12.85. There can be several reasons for the difference between the actual price of XYZ stock and the calculated price. One major reason could be the difference between the demand and supply of stock as in reality the demand of XYZ stock would be very high which might have increased the actual price of the stock and for this reason the stock has been overvalued. Also the other reason might be that people might expect the company to perform better in future and this is the reason why they would like to buy the stock of XYZ and this would have increased the price of the stock as well. As the market risk premium has increased from 7.5% to 10%, so this would change the return of XYZ stock as well. The new return can be found using CAPM equation and the new required return with the changed market risk premium would be 18.525%. By using the value of new required return of XYZ stock in Constant Growth Model the value of XYZ’s share price has been calculated. The new price is $7.75. The new price is lower than the price calculated previously because the market risk has increased and investors would like to have more return on the stock. So in order to get more return either the return or dividend should increase or the price of the stock should decrease, since dividend is constant therefore the price of the stock has decreased. The share price of XYZ Company calculated using the P/E method is different than the share price calculated using constant growth model and the reason behind this difference in estimated share price is that these methods are used to estimate the share price and at times one method would give

The Association between War Crime and Nori Films Essay

The Association between War Crime and Nori Films - Essay Example The relations between war and the noir phenomenon As pointed out, the world wars shattered the dreams of millions of human beings and led them towards the drastic effects of the same. Besides, national identity became under crisis and unity beyond borders became a myth. During this time, the Noir film genre began to portray the postwar problems. Basically, Noir film dealt with the problems faced by individuals in the postwar society. This is utmost important because the unity during wartime underwent rapid change and transformed into the visible moral problems in the postwar society. This socio-political background deeply influenced the close relation between war and Noir phenomenon. Within this scenario, the film directors related to Noir film genre began to provide ample importance to the anxieties of the mass. One can easily identify the fact that material wealth cannot reduce human anxiety, but close examination of the grass-root level reasons of the problem can. Most of the Noir films deal with the disillusionment in human life, especially related to wars. ... Paul Meehan makes clear that, â€Å"As the film begins, Teddy and fellow marshal Chuck Aule (Mark Ruffalo) are riding the ferry out to Shutter Island, a barren rock 11 miles out to sea from Boston that houses a psychiatric hospital for the criminally insane† (274). The purpose of religion Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

The purpose of religion - Essay Example Religion has been the most intriguing, controversial and influential factor in lives of individuals for centuries. Since the beginning of civilization thousands of years ago, religion has engulfed the life spheres of inhabitants of this world to a great degree. Scholars, thinkers, philosophers, and theologians have invested their time and effort extensively to study the impact of religion on people’s lives. Even when the role religion played in lives of its believers was not an empirically proven one; it was evident through introspection of thousands of people who saw a transformation in their lives as they begin to exercise their faith. This paper attempts to explore this transformative power, religion holds and the purpose it serves in different contexts in lives of people. In addition, the paper will also attempt to look at the modernization and analyze the difference, advent of science and technology has made in the function, religion served in the lives of its believers. In the beginning, when man began to venture into the mysteries of the universe and embarked upon the everlasting intellectual journey, he used religion as a way to explore the universe and solve the puzzles each phenomenon offered. Thus, mythologies came into being and people started worshipping objects because they thought it was these objects, which ruled the universe and ran their lives. This does not only include objects like fire and water but animals like the ones who were more powerful than them and their pets. As the world progressed, people grew wiser and realized the existence of a higher force, which governed the lives of objects, and entities, which they earlier perceived to be the divine force itself. This way, the advent of the concept of religion took place. However, as the world advanced, the role of religion became more subsided as people explored similar gains in other resources like technology and consultancy, both of which provides comfort and a space for cathars is with machine and human respectively. What is problematic to determine is therefore not what religion aimed to achieve, but whether religion is still required to enable life to function normally or whether it is an obsolete entity whose entire existence is nothing but a false satisfaction and testimony to various events that stand unexplained in the realm of history. To look at it critically, religion actually does not offer much help when it comes to real-life issues, at least not anymore. The purposes it served in ancient times are now attained in its absence with the same quality nonetheless. For instance, religion in older times was used as explanation for many life processes and universal occurring, which were devoid of any explanation comprehensible to human mind. However, with the scientific advancement and new discoveries flooding the world of information every minute, science seems to have overtaken this role and religion appears subsided by its much younger rival. Exampl es of this will be evolutionism offered by Charles Darwin and Big Bang theory, which both offer non-divine-yet-logical explanation for the creation of universe. In old times, religion also served a psychological purpose. It helped people relieve stress, get rid of their worldly pressures, and submit their worries to the power, which seemed to absorb all that is bad and protect people from all sufferings. All matters that seemed out of their control and circle of wisdom were left to the unimaginable and unending power of divinity. In addition, rites were designed to appease and gratiate this super power for his unlimited bounties and whenever sins or mistakes were committed, propitiation rites and sacrifices were performed to make it up to him. Thus, religion was just not restricted to rites and worship, but it engulfed the whole lifestyle and involved all aspects of existence of an individual. However, science has managed to overshadow successfully the impact of religion on peopleâ €™
